Artist statement
My work is defined by its relationship to transparency, luminosity and reflectivity, where embellishments over flat surfaces create choreographies of light, where rhythms of light filtering through transparent fabrics cast colorful shadows. My practice mines the complexities of varied relationships, relationships of past to present, relevancy to redundancy. I address relationships betwixt people, between individuals and their communities. I investigate our custodial relationship to the natural world and to our place in the cosmos. Emblematic of gratitude and generosity of relationships between myself and my viewers, I create safe spaces of calm and quietude, places for reflection, meditation and awareness.
