Shin-Yiing Yeung

Lives and works in Durham, NC, USA

Artist statement

Originally from Hong Kong and now based in Durham, Shin-Yiing Yeung's interdisciplinary practice moves across painting, photography, and sculpture, shaped by her beekeeping practice and a bicultural experience of moving between worlds. Her work traces the interconnectivity between humanity and nature across micro and macro scales, returning to what’s often overlooked on the horizon, beneath our feet, in a fleeting moment. As a lover of dance and music and the rhythms they carry, her work is guided by curiosity, play, and a willingness to move with what’s present and arising rather than chasing or confining it. Shin-Yiing has exhibited a solo show at NorthStar Church of the Arts in addition to group shows at A Photographer’s Place, Eno Arts Mill Gallery, Pop Box Gallery, VAE Raleigh, 311 Gallery, Rubenstein Arts Center at Duke University, UNC Botanical Gardens, and Hearth Studios. She has received the Puffin Foundation Grant and the Snapdragon Fund Research & Development Grant.
