Artist statement

Simen Utsigt Stenberg (b.1992) is an artist and essayist working with sculpture, assemblage, text and expanded photography through a research-driven practice that explores embodiment, hybridity and what lies at the threshold of human perception. Informed by media theory and ecological thought, he combines objects and photographic elements—from scientific images to non-human sensing systems—into associative material constellations, investigating how transformations in perception and bodily experience shape one another, and how this alters our understanding of the world. He graduated from Malmö Art Academy, where he earned his MFA in 2019. Previous solo shows include Cluster Root (2023) at Heerz Tooya (BG) and Squeeze Operator (2022) at Konstepidemin (SE). Recent texts include an essay for the artist book Varm juli, kjølig august by KVAE & BARK, published by Torpedo Books (2026).
