Artist statement
I am neither a patient person by nature nor have I been an artist forever. Despite being surrounded by a family of artists, pursuing a career in the creative industry wasn't something I looked forward to. However, when I realised, I wasn't cut out for the typical academic stress and the mindless "hustle", I decided to give art a shot. Did it work? Yes. Although I had my doubts at the beginning of my fine arts degree. But as the days unfolded, I saw myself become more entwined with the creative processes. It is easy to be influenced by different schools of art. However, it helped my case that I wasn't always crazy about school. Hence, I came up with something original to me and inspired by my sights and dreams. The result is that today I can create art whenever I want. While I enjoy painting, the process of printmaking fascinates me more than anything which includes specific rigorous steps like carving multiple layers for different elements and applying various colours until the final piece is created. And as I may plan it in detail but when I execute it, The result will be different from what was originally planned. As I mentioned earlier, being patient is not my virtue. I'm still restless by nature, but I do enjoy this process of making art, however long it might be.
