Artist statement
Artist note My paitings begin with closely stared experiences in nature – passing light, overgrown weeds, shifting air, and sensations that remain in the body after walking through a place everyday. Rather than describing landscape directly, I work through layers of color, density, and gesture to reconstruct the sensory traces of those encounters. Forms gradually recede during the painting process. While the tension between marks, overlapping colors, and accumulated surfaces becomes more central. I think of painting as a slow temporal process where bodily perception and painterly time continuously interact.
