Artist statement

HOW TO BE AN ARTIST Take an idea, look at it from the left now look at it right wrap the thing around your finger tie it in a bow and swear an oath to its allegiance. Hold your idea in your arms like an infant sing its praises, lie it down under a flowering tree to watch it grow. Reverie, epiphany, illumination. Falling asleep to the wind's lullaby you wake to the idea's fierce jaws snapping at your back suddenly you are caught. It trots you about sunrise to sunset until a plan is concocted. You know what must be done. A great fight for liberation begins for this raw thing wants freedom too. Your brawny intentions disappear into the mist as you must plan and scheme for another tiny quivering notion, forming at this moment between your teeth and tongue this one minuscule thing better than before, a little more jaw than jelly more twist than swaddle.
