Artist statement
My work is rooted in storytelling, identity, and connection. I create figurative and surrealist art that celebrates Black women and women who reflect my culture and heritage, honoring their presence, power, and beauty. Drawing inspiration from my roots, I weave my beliefs, memories, and inner self into every piece, allowing each layer to carry both personal and collective meaning. I work in mixed media, blending patterns, prints, and textures to build depth—both visually and emotionally. This layering reflects the complexity of identity and the richness of cultural history. Nature often appears in my work, serving as a reminder of our shared connection to the earth and its cycles. Through representation, I aim to create space for stories that are often overlooked, inviting viewers to engage with the strength, resilience, and grace of women and people of color. My art is not only a reflection of my own journey, but a celebration of the communities and traditions that shape who I am.
