Artist statement

Thendo Lidzhade is a street photographer from Cape Town, South Africa. His work studies how strangers interact within shared spaces, photographing people in city streets, nightclubs, bars, and wherever strangers gather across Europe and South Africa. Often stripping away visual detail, his images seek an intimate view of people’s fleeting relationships to one another and to himself. This is most present in his ongoing project Once Upon A Thursday, in which he explores Cape Town’s nightlife, photographing and making friends out of strangers.
