Lives and works in Saint Petersburg, Russia
Artist statement
Since childhood, I was attracted by the idea of touching the unknown. I found the embodiment of this aspiration in artistic creativity. While painting a picture, I seem to be building a dialogue with the essence that gradually manifests itself in the depicted image. It helps me to explore more deeply those archetypal forces that accompany and guide me on my life path. For the most part, I work in oil painting techniques and dry pastels. Since I refer to the spiritual realms through artistic means, the plots of my works often acquire an iconographic character in a modern surrealistic manner. I use black a lot as a symbol of the unknown, the part of the unconscious where images are born. For me, black is the depth before all, concealing in its potential the most bizarre fantasies. Perhaps my paintings can serve as a beacon on the spiritual path for those who recognize in them parts of their inner worlds.
