Artist statement
My paintings, drawings, and installations focus on the natural world, particularly the relationship between landscape and memory. Using oil paintings, watercolors, and series of works, and immersive installation, I explore the rhythms and forces of the environment through abstracted forms and altered perspectives. The work addresses personal loss, habitat destruction, and the effects of climate change. The landscapes I create are shaped by natural processes, human activity, and memory, blending the physical world with emotional and symbolic meaning. I examine how place, memory, and existence are connected. As the land holds traces of time and human impact, and my work combines personal history with a larger environmental context. By observing and interpreting the landscape, I engage with these layers of meaning, capturing both the land’s material reality while providing space for reflection. Through my work, I aim to raise awareness of how memory, time, and the changing environment are intertwined, while emphasizing the importance of understanding and respecting the world around us.
