Lives and works in Urubamba, Cusco, Peru

Artist statement

My practice is concerned with how a figure comes into being. Through woven surfaces, layered color, and stitched articulations, I draw from erotic geometries and material transformation to explore forms that exceed the edges of a single body. Moving across painting, textiles, embroidery, and ritual action, I attend to how these processes give rise to fertile figurations of resembling/uncertain kin. Over the last five years, my sustained engagement with traditional textile-making in the Andean region of Cusco has continued to shape my understanding of weaving as embodied wisdom. Sheep and alpaca wool, synthetic fibers, pigment, thread, earth, and the gestures accumulated through making enter into dialogue in my practice, carrying different temporalities and conditions of aliveness. I am invested in how woven structures carry the movement of multiple bodies forward and backward, in a multi-way spiral: what persists, circulates, and takes new form through relation.
