Artist statement

I am a Chinese artist based in New York, working primarily in oil painting and printmaking. My practice explores the relationship between spontaneity and control, observation and imagination. After years of training in representational painting, I became interested in discovering images through intuitive mark-making, allowing chaos to gradually find its own order. My recent work draws from memories of growing up in a Chinese household, exploring cultural identity alongside universal human experiences of intimacy, love, and belonging. Through painting, I hope to bring these two approaches together, allowing curiosity and discovery to coexist with personal narratives.
