Lives and works in London, UK

Artist statement

Yijia Shao (b. 1999) is a Chinese artist based in London and Beijing. Focusing on the flow of the painting, she sees painting as a conduit where information comes through both canvas and title. “The truth will be revealed in the fluctuations.”—“Time is unbreakable, yet we can always stand at the threshold of any moment.” The process of her work is spontaneous, all about a natural rhythm of human existence within the universe, and a subtle interaction that unveils the mystical dimension of nature and life.
