Ling-lin Ku

Born 1984 in Taiwan. Lives and works in Austin, TX. 2019 MFA, University of Texas, Austin, TX. 2016 BFA, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA.

"Ku’s system-based sculptural practice locates the animist uncanny through her nimble manipulation of materials that would otherwise register as dormant or mundane. Her installations hover enigmatically between futurist mise en scene and urban planning maquette– the scale not quite right to confirm either intention, instead affirming the holistic liveliness and interdependence of each detail and decision. In Ku’s smaller, discrete works enlarged tools of bodily care like bandages and cotton swabs serve as protagonists and antagonists, absorbing personas of healing and phobias. For Ku, sculpture is not about the body, but instead is the body itself."

Aaron Zulpo

Born 1985 in Chicago, IL. Lives and works in Palm Springs, CA, and Los Angeles, CA. 2008 BFA, Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI.

"Zulpo’s filmic, fabulist paintings deftly produce an idiosyncratic sense of the sublime and absurd in their wry depictions of both historical events and distinctly contemporary moments of malaise, leisure and uncertainty. Each canvas is thick with narrative, some mythologize a ski trip with almost impressionistic fracture while others make cross sections through simultaneous time as if Bruegel were invited to play the game Clue. A folkloric immediacy permeates the work, pulling the viewer into Zulpo’s captivating world."

Elizabeth Corkery

Born 1986. Lives and works in Sacramento, CA. 2013 MFA, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY.

"Corkery’s practice approaches printmaking as a semiotic form, expanding on notions of repetition and reproduction through her use of dimensional substrates and installation. Hegemonic display hierarchies collapse under Corkery’s care, as she often uses site specific decorative elements as source material for her syncopated investigations. Perceptually playful yet astute, Corkery invites us to consider an expanded field of representation and display."
