Awuor Onyango
Born 1990, lives and works in Nairobi, Kenya.
"I first encountered the work of Awuor Onyango via their writing in Contemporary And (C&), and was really impressed by their complex, bold, and poetic approach to questions around the cultural and political status of looted Kenyan artifacts. With a similar valor, their multifaceted artistic practice spans freely over photography, painting, and video in order to address the political—in a broad sense—from a very intimate perspective. Drawing from one’s personal experience in order to address universal questions proves the artist’s capacity to take immense risk and is, in my opinion, a very generous strategy when it comes to a sincere political engagement."

Marcelo Brodsky
Born 1954, lives and works in Buenos Aires, Argentina. 1983 Economics and MA Degrees, University of Barcelona, Spain.
"Among the diverse selection of artists who are part of Foundwork’s online community, the historical figure of Brodsky acts as an inspiring pioneer within the history of photography. Without his work, the life stories of hundreds, if not thousands, of disappeared civilians would have gone unnoticed. By paying homage to those who were killed during the Argentine dictatorship, and other tragic episodes of modern history, Brodsky’s poetic visual language helps to unveil aspects of systems of oppresion that transcend territories or timelines."

Jessy Razafimandimby
Born 1995 in Antananarivo, Madagascar. Lives and works in Geneva, Switzerland. 2018 BFA, Haute Ecole d'Art et Design de Genève, Geneva, Switzerland.
"Active both as a painter and performer, Jessy Razafimandimby works within a practice that truly lies at the intersection of the two mediums, whereby his body “enacts” movements based on his visual and formal work and his paintings ‘trap’ and fix motions on paper and canvas. I’m particularly drawn by the very specific frame of references that his work is based on; through an anti-modernist study of the history of fashion and interior design, the artist always returns to the notion of what the concept of “home” can mean within different cultural contexts."
