Cici Wu

b. 1989 in Beijing, China. Lives and works in New York and Hong Kong. BA in Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. MFA in Sculpture, Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore.

“What captivates me in Cici Wu's work are the poetics of light—light not only as an open source of illumination, but also as a sensation that can evoke transformative experiences and hint at different states of being. Wu’s twinkly works harness the play of light and shadow to conjure a liminal space that hovers between absence and presence. Employing diverse media and materials, Wu choreographs stories, weaving together personal and collective memories, inviting us to explore the oneiric realm where the ethereal world intersects our reality, forging connections that span across time.”

Emma Schwartz

b. 1992 in Toronto, Canada. Lives and works in New York, NY. 2014 BFA, School of the Art Institute of Chicago. 2019 MFA, Columbia University School of the Arts, New York.

“What I find fascinating in Emma Schwartz’s paintings is the feeling of immediacy and playfulness. By overlaying loose brushstrokes with memories and spaces from her childhood, she produces textured canvases that resemble frescoes. Her expressive use of charcoal and pastels adds depth and emotional resonance to her mixed media paintings. As teenage scenes in intimate spaces capture fleeting moments that become emblematic, ranch-style homes and the storied land they sit on develop a narrative between personal and cultural histories. Emma Schwartz’s paintings are a portal to a dimension where peculiar, intimate moments that question subjectivity are unearthed.”

Latent Community

Established 2017 and based in Athens, Greece. Latent Community is the interdisciplinary artist duo by Sotiris Tsiganos (b. 1992 Athens, Greece) and Ionian Bisai (b.1992, Saranda, Albania).

"I'm constantly intrigued by Latent Community’s work and practice, which has at its core moving image and explores issues of social, political, and ecological justice. The artist duo weaves participatory strategies and performative sequences, resulting in hybrid film productions and video installations. Their research-based projects focus on the critical reading of underexposed stories and twisting them through new contexts. Their work creates ripples of thoughts and emotions while critically confronting contemporary social history; it cuts through the noise and invites us to engage more deeply with the pressing issues of our time.”
