Alison Causer

Born 1982 in Toledo, OH. Lives and works in New York, NY.

2021 MFA Candidate, New York Studio School, New York, NY. 2005 BFA, Columbus College of Art & Design, Columbus, OH.

"Alison Causer’s paintings hover somewhere between abstraction and landscape, occasionally hinting at figuration. They engage color and gesture with a bold palette and marked energy. Though it’s not wholly logical, her paintings employ a distinct sense of depth that draws the eye into the center of the image, and once you’ve arrived there her seductive use of color holds your attention."

Joe Sobel

Born 1986 in Las Vegas, NV. Lives and works in Paris, France.

2012 MFA, Cranbrook Academy of Art, Bloomfield Hills, MI. 2010 BFA, Northern Michigan University, Marquette, MI.

"Joe Sobel’s background in photography clearly informs the way he carefully considers composition. Additionally, he seems to be interested in experimenting with contextualizing varying materials, incorporating industrial and synthetic mediums with things like packing supplies, to create objects that exist as both paintings and sculptures. And his use of color, combined with the way he layers these materials, possesses a charmingly self-aware sense of humor."

Artwork Image: Untitled, 2019. Acrylic paint, lacquer, acrylic, polyurethane foam. 16 x 20 x 10 in.

Heather Lee Birdsong

Born 1984, Spring Valley, NV. Lives and works in Portland, OR.

2011 BFA Pacific Northwest College of Art, Portland, OR.

"Heather Lee Birdsong’s paintings play with the idea of space in a surreal and narrative manner, blending folk tales, mythology, geometric abstraction and magical realism. I’m interested in how the geometric shapes she renders enter and exit seemingly varied picture planes. Paired with her unique use of color, these shapes collide and coalesce with strange landscapes in ways that suggest an underlying story."
