About Foundwork

Foundwork is a Los Angeles-based nonprofit supporting access and recognition for contemporary artists worldwide. Our online platform lets emerging and mid-career artists working in any medium introduce their work to curators, gallerists and other collaborators across the global art community, and our ongoing programs build visibility for participating artists.

Foundwork Artist Prize

The Foundwork Artist Prize is our annual juried award for emerging and mid-career artists working in any medium. The honoree receives an unrestricted $10,000 grant, studio visits with our jurors, and an interview in our Dialogues program. Three shortlisted artists each receive a $1,000 micro-grant.

Guest Curators

Guest Curators is a program where we invite curators, gallerists, writers, educators, and others working in and around contemporary art to highlight artists on the Foundwork platform.

Dialogues

Dialogues is a series of long-form interviews with artists from Foundwork and the broader art community, conducted by established and emerging writers, curators, and critics.

Creating an Artist Profile

Artists manage their own profiles on Foundwork and have full control over their presence on the platform. You can share unlimited artworks, along with your CV and artist statement if you choose, and update your profile at any time.

Curatorial Research

For curators, gallerists, and other prospective collaborators, Foundwork is a focused resource for discovering artists internationally. You can search artists and artwork by location, format, descriptive attributes, and affiliations such as art schools.

Connecting with Artists

Foundwork is a connective resource for artists and collaborators, not a commercial marketplace, so there are no prices or sales on the platform. You can save artists to organize your research and contact them directly through their profiles.
